The Bill
She argued we should split the bill. It was a fair point because at dinner we had established between us a rough estimate of the last few years since we saw each other. And we determined we had come up about equal in terms of luck.
The Drive
My grandma had mentioned her neighbor passed away. It was my job this Thanksgiving to drive her. I had never driven a car this old. The second I reversed into the street cars came out of nowhere from every direction. I pulled over for 10 seconds for them to pass.
Coffee Without Milk
The restaurant only had milk for coffee and I am lactose intolerant! But I needed coffee. I drank black coffee. I thought somehow this may be symbolic.
Cartoons
He didn’t know if the relationship would make it past New Years Eve. That night they stayed up watching Christmas cartoons. It was foggy outside that night and for two more nights.
A Half
There was never enough time to do what he thought would be the best thing or even to define it.

(Bonus Story) 5.5 Hours
​
In five and a half hours his plane would land and they would meet again. He realized how rarely he looked forward to returning flights. A few times in life, if you are lucky, you can feel like this.
